Eviction Papers
In Acts 19:21, the Scripture says, “Afterward Paul felt compelled to go over to Macedonia (Sometimes you just feel compelled to end a season in your life. You feel it deep down. You may not like it, but you feel it. That’s the radical side of you coming out. And when God speaks from inside of you, you’d better listen. You’d better be radical.) Paul felt compelled to go over to go over to Macedonia … [but instead] he sent his two assistants, Timothy and Erastus ahead to Macedonia while he stayed awhile longer in the province of Asia.” (Acts 19:21-22 NLT) Did you catch that? Paul stayed awhile longer. Paul felt compelled to leave, but he stayed. Radical people walk out of a season with God, instead of being evicted by God. Paul stays when he feels compelled. He stays, and the people in Asia, this place where Paul has seen this GREAT revival, they turn against Paul and the people that Paul is traveling with. The people in the place who once supported Paul actually mob and beat down Paul’s traveling companions. All because Paul wanted to stay and continue enjoying the success that he’d been seeing. That’s the thing about people. They will lay down branches in your path and worship you as a king in one season, and they will crucify you in the next. Your dead season will chew you up and spit you out if you aren’t careful. I’d be willing to bet that some of the great heartaches of your life came about because you didn’t get while the getting was good. Paul wasn’t willing to transfer power. He wanted to maintain power; he wanted to keep a good thing going, and God forced him out … through a mob. It’s better to walk out with God than to be evicted by God.
